ABOUT
Exploring the tension between expression of brush strokes and harder edge painting. Elaine’s aim is to keep life and vitality in the work. The intersection of colours and the resulting added energy is a motivational element.
Graduating in Graphic Design and illustration plus 16 years of A level teaching while maintaining her own practice and bringing up two children have brought Elaine Hedges’ work to a point that could be termed as abstract and colourful.
Her work is a response to being in nature and the positive impact it has on the body and soul. It can start off planned smaller then is taken on to a larger canvas where it takes on a new life and energy in its own right.
Design and balance are important aspects of Elaine’s practice, reworking and balancing colour hues and areas of rest within the work. Line, shape, colour, work together with freshness and vitality.
Often her canvasses work in succession - Each one inspired the next.
